About Us

A key organizing force of No Kings and other major protests in Central Texas, we're a show-up-ocracy — powered by people who show up, speak out, and take action.

HOCTX-Indivisible is an arm of Hands Off Central TX, a grassroots coalition of organizations and individuals working together to defend democracy and build a country that works for all of us.

Hands Off Central TX (HOCTX) is our nonpartisan arm.

Our Story

Hands Off Central TX formed after two handfuls of people came together as perfect strangers to put on the Hands Off! protest in April, 2025.

We found we worked well together and there was much more to be done so we formalized a 501(c)3 and then created an Indivisible group to forge a stronger connection with the national org and give us the flexibility to do electoral and campaign initiatives.

We work with other allied organizations and individuals to co-host rallies and civic events across Central Texas, connecting local action to the broader national movement for democracy and constitutional rights. Our aim is to reclaim power and set about reforming our government for the better.

We address issues affecting our local communities as well as the broader national movement.

Our Mission

Our mission is to cultivate and empower a grassroots network of local groups to resist the agenda of the far right and build progressive power in Central Texas.

We work to realize bold progressive policies, rebuild our democracy, and defeat the forces of authoritarianism, white supremacy, and corruption that seek to divide us.

We believe in an inclusive society that values the dignity, equality, and freedom of all people.

We are committed to the principles embodied in the US Constitution, voting rights, environmental justice, healthcare access, and economic policies that benefit working families.

Our Leadership Team

Meet the dedicated volunteers who lead our chapter.

Lucy Frost

Lucy Frost

Board Member, Hands Off Central TX • Chapter Lead, Hands Off Central TX • Precinct Chair • Associate Coach, Pat Kirkland Leadership

Left to her own devices, Lucy would be recording a podcast about badass Southern women, training her unruly dogs, or mastering the fine art of saying "no" to social invitations from a mountain perch in Mora, NM. Instead, she's neck-deep in the fight for democracy—because if we let the authoritarians win, who's gonna tell the stories?

Heidi Bray

Heidi Bray

Board Member, Hands Off Central TX • Leader, Hands Off Central TX - Indivisible

With a Master's in Social Science / Liberal Arts and a license to style, Heidi brings both sharp political instincts and sharp shears to the movement. One of the most up-to-speed people you'll meet on the political scene, she blends policy savvy with a stylist's eye — because democracy, like a good haircut, is all about shaping things just right.

Austin Wright

Austin Wright

Board Member, Hands Off Central TX • Treasurer

Cool enough to have a city named after him (well, almost), Austin is that rarest of species: a finance guy with actual swagger (hence the shades). When he's not untangling the global chip supply chain by day, he's holding Austin's government accountable on the Bond Oversight Commission—because if you're going to have a city almost named after you, the least you can do is make sure it doesn't blow the budget.

Join Our Movement

We're always looking for passionate individuals to join our team. Whether you can volunteer a few hours a month or want to take on a leadership role, there's a place for you in our movement.
